Punjab Rolls Out Entrepreneurship Curriculum in 200+ Colleges (2025)
In a first-of-its-kind initiative, Punjab University (PU) plans to roll out a credit-based *Entrepreneurship Mindset* curriculum in over **200 colleges** from the 2025–26 academic year. Approved by the state government and designed by a committee led by GNDU Vice-Chancellor Dr. Karamjit Singh, the program aims to make students earn while learning.
Why It Matters
The curriculum isn’t just about lecturing—it’s about **real-world business projects**. Students in arts, commerce, and tech streams will:
- Work on team-based startups;
- Learn financial literacy, leadership & marketing;
- Set revenue goals (₹10K–₹8 L+ by semester 6);
- Get graded—30% on revenue, 40% on deliverables, 30% on reflection.
How It Works
- Faculty will undergo special training;
- Flexible formats include field visits, live challenges;
- Collaboration with startup incubators and AI mentors;
- Assessment centers across colleges.
Student & Faculty Impact
Imagine designing a product brief in semester 1, testing your service in semester 3, and generating real revenue by semester 6. That’s **learning by doing**, not memorizing. Faculty also gain new teaching approaches, including workshops, mentorship, and experiential pedagogy.
What This Means for Indian Education
Punjab is becoming a **pilot state for skill-native learning** aligned with NEP 2020. If successful, other states could follow. Students gain confidence, skills—not just degrees.
ShikshaSprout Tip
Thinking of starting a business idea? Track this rollout, connect with participating colleges, and pitch your idea early. Who doesn’t want resume-worthy skills *and* ₹2–3 L earnings by year’s end?
